First Time Applicants
Writing a successful grant proposal can be hard work. There are no easy answers or shortcuts. We are looking for innovative, creative proposals that are based on a compelling vision with a common-sense plan of action. While this may feel overwhelming, if your organization takes the time to carefully analyze its mission and goals, you can develop an exciting (and fundable) proposal.
When filling out our application, closely follow the guidelines and procedures we have listed. We have written these documents so that you can decide if your proposal will meet our decision-making criteria, and we want you to follow the specific directions they provide for submissions. Applications that do not follow our guidelines (or use our application) will be rejected without review. If you are not sure that your proposal meets our funding criteria, contact us and ask for clarification.
RESIST supports both on-going or new projects that address social and/or economic injustice. A sample of RESIST's interests include: community organizing and anti-racism projects; economic justice; environmental protection; the struggle for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered rights; health, AIDS and disability issues; labor; progressive media and culture resources; Native Americans/Native Peoples; peace/anti-militarism; prisoners; women; and youth. RESIST also funds local solidarity organizations for movements in many different parts of the world.
As a first-time applicant, you may submit requests for General Support, Emergency or Accessibility grants. You may also request a loan. You may NOT apply for either Multi-Year or Technical Assistance grants.
Before you apply:
- Read the grant guidelines carefully to see if your organization meets our funding criteria
- Call the office to clarify any questions you might have about your eligibility for funding
- Follow our eligibility guidelines and submission policies
Remember, writing a grant is a time-consuming process for you and reading them is equally time-consuming for us. It works for everyone to make the process a good fit!
